On a daily basis, I don’t personally like to use foundation as I rather not put a layer on my skin that can cause my pores to clog. However, with natural skin imperfections and blemishes I do occasionally like to have a daily cream that functions as a cover up. Over the years I’ve experimented with a few different brands but will feature two here that I have found the most success with. So for starters what is a BB and CC Cream? BB can stand for blemish balm/beauty balm and CC has been called a color corrector or color control cream, essentially their function is more or less the same they usually contain an SPF and are a tinted moisturizer that gives you coverage without the heavy feel of a full blown foundation.
The first one I encountered back in the day before I began experimenting with a lot of different brands was: Boscia’s BB Cream (18$). If you do not already know Boscia has a wonderful line of face products that utilize all natural ingredients, which for a sensitive skin user like myself is a major plus. It’s oil free, light weight, and has a very smooth finish and while it only comes in two colors – it possesses this self-adjusting formula where the heat of your skin helps adjust its color to match your tone. This product isn’t for everyone, as while it matched my skin tone perfectly, I had a friend who said that when she tried it she felt she looked a little too “gray”. It also has an SPF of 27 which is great to protect you from the sun on a daily basis. Negatives? Be sure to shake well cause occasionally the products can separate and become somewhat liquid-y.
FEATURED PRODUCT: My all time favorite and daily go to CC Cream that has now replaced Boscia for me is Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Creme (28$). While Boscia boasts products that are mainly for skincare, Ole Henriksen is known for skin care-make up hybrid products which is the reason why I love their CC Creme. It comes in two shades (I’m the light) and if it matches your skin tone it really is my favorite cream out there. Why is exceeds Boscia’s BB cream for me? It not only brightens, evens out, and glides onto your skin smoothly but it creates a flawless finish like a foundation that shows up great in
photos. It has an SPF of 30 and with its 5 sources of Vitamin C you’re not covering up flaws but are actually brightening dark spots and firming up your skin. It also has a calming green tea extract and moisturizes so you do not see any sort of “cake” like qualities once applied. In the photo on the right, taken with a DSLR camera that doesn’t hide any flaws, I’m wearing the Ole Henriksen CC Creme which really gives great coverage while still providing me skin care benefits. Although this product is a little more expensive, a little goes a long way and the product lasts quite a while (a few months) even when used daily!
